A note on photo rights:

When you're shopping for a wedding photographer one thing to keep in mind is who owns the rights to your photos. One way that photographers make money is in printing: you will be given relatively low resolution versions of your images which are great for sharing over the web and for smaller photos. However, if you want bigger prints or if you want to design an album you have to go to the photographer and buy high resolution versions. Most photographers price their prints fairly and are up front about the costs, but be sure and find out ahead of time to avoid headaches later.

At Outer Shore you own all non-commercial rights to the images that are on the disc. This means that you are free to print as large as you want and as many times as you want with no hidden costs as long as the images aren't being used in a commercial setting. I am more than happy to assist you with printing and am most certainly able to help with albums and guest books, but if you choose to do so on your own you have the images you need in the resolution you need.

One more thing:

Every one of the wedding photographers you see on the net is technically capable of wielding a camera. Cost aside, it seems to me that your choice can often come down to two main criteria: style and personality.

When it comes to style, take a good look at the pictures on the photographer's site. These will doubtless be the best images that he/she has to offer and are usually indicative of his or her style. Some photographers aim to be incredibly polished, others prefer a looser, more journalistic approach. Whatever the case, keep in mind that once the flowers are wilted and the cake is eaten all you'll be left with are the photographs (and of course your new husband or wife). Be sure to choose a style that speaks to you.

Personality is another huge factor to consider. Of all the professionals that you choose to make your wedding day special, your photographer is the one with whom you will likely spend the most time. Give him or her a call  and if possible get together for a consultation. Nothing is worse than having someone at your wedding who just doesn't fit in, especially if you're paying him or her to be there.

It's my contention that I'd rather have you thrilled with the work of one of my colleagues than be somewhat happy with mine. Shop around; there are lots of us out there and you should be able find a fit that's right for you.
